Cookie Policy
This page explains what the Whoo website stores in your browser, and why. Today that is very little, and none of it is cookies.
Draft for legal review · not yet in effect · last updated 19 October 2026
1. Who we are
This website is run by Xava Labs Hong Kong Limited, 7F, 262 Des Voeux Road West, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong 999077 ("Whoo", "we", "us"). This policy covers the Whoo website. How we handle personal information more broadly is in our Privacy Policy.
2. The short version
- The Whoo website does not set cookies today.
- It keeps a few small items in your browser's local storage so the waitlist works as you'd expect.
- We don't use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or cross-site trackers.
- If we ever add analytics, we'll list them here first and ask you before they run where the law requires it.
3. Cookies and local storage, in plain words
A cookie is a small file a website saves in your browser. It is sent back to the website each time you visit.
Local storage is similar, but it stays on your device. Your browser doesn't send it with every visit, but the site's own code reads it, for example to send your seat token when you come back to see your seat.
4. What we keep in local storage
| Item | What it does | How long it stays |
|---|---|---|
| whoo-joined | Remembers that you've saved a seat, so we don't ask you to sign up again. | Until you clear it |
| whoo-device | The seat token: a random device token linked to your seat. It lets a return visit show your seat without asking for your email again. | Until you clear it |
| whoo-seat | Your seat details, shown in the preview of the site. | Until you clear it |
| whoo-joins | A preview counter of sign-ups made in this browser. | Until you clear it |
| whoo-code | Your invite code. | Until you clear it |
[To confirm with engineering: final keys]
These items are needed for features you ask for, like seeing your seat. They are not used to follow you around the web, build a profile or show you ads.
We rely on these being strictly necessary for the waitlist you asked to join. [counsel: ePrivacy Art. 5(3) exemption, especially whoo-joins]
The seat token is linked to your waitlist entry, so we treat it as personal information. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle waitlist data.
5. How to clear them
You can remove these items at any time:
- Open your browser's settings and clear site data for the Whoo website. Most browsers list this under privacy, cookies or site data.
- Or clear all browsing data, which removes local storage for every site.
Clearing them doesn't remove you from the waitlist. It only means the site won't recognise you on this device. To show your seat again, use the link in your confirmation email. To leave the waitlist, use the unsubscribe link in any Whoo email or write to privacy@meetwhoo.com.
6. Analytics and anything new
We don't use analytics on the website today.
If we add analytics or any cookies later, we will:
- list each one here, with what it does and how long it lasts, before it's used;
- ask for your consent first wherever the law requires it, including in the EU, the UK and similar places;
- let you change your mind as easily as you said yes.
We honour Global Privacy Control signals. See Your Privacy Choices.
7. The Whoo apps
The Whoo app (iPhone at launch) won't use advertising trackers or advertising IDs. We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
The apps store what they need to work on your device, such as keeping you signed in and your settings. More detail is in our Privacy Policy.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change what the website stores, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change needs your consent, we'll ask before it takes effect.
