Terms of Service
These are the rules for using Whoo. They form an agreement between you and us, so please read them before you join a table.
Draft for legal review · not yet in effect · last updated 19 October 2026
The short version. You must be 18 or older and use one real account. Whoo's AI seats your tables, suggests replies and translates. The AI never decides a match on its own. A match needs two Yes answers, given by members or, on Auto-Date, by a member's Twin. On Whoo Plus, your Twin (an AI version of you) can chat for you, and you can always see and change what it knows. We never train our AI on your chats unless you turn that on. Be kind, follow the house rules, and report anyone who doesn't.
1. Who we are
Whoo is run by Xava Labs Hong Kong Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong, with its address at 7F, 262 Des Voeux Road West, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong 999077. In these terms, "Whoo", "we" and "us" mean that company. "You" means the person using Whoo.
These terms cover the Whoo app, our website and any related services. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data. The Community Guidelines and Invite rules are part of these terms.
2. Who can use Whoo
You can use Whoo only if all of these are true:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You can legally agree to these terms where you live.
- You have not been convicted of a sexual offence, and you are not required to register as a sex offender anywhere.
- You are not barred from using Whoo by law, including sanctions laws.
- We have not previously removed you from Whoo, unless we have told you in writing that you may come back.
Whoo is available worldwide and in 45 languages. Local law may limit some features in some places.
3. Your account
- You may have one account. It is for you alone, and you may not sell, lend or transfer it.
- Give us accurate information, including your real age.
- Keep your sign-in method secure. Tell us at safety@meetwhoo.com if you think someone else has used your account.
- Only you may operate your account. Don't let outside bots, scripts or AI agents act on it. Your own Twin, inside Whoo, is the only exception.
4. How Whoo works
Whoo helps you meet people for dating or for friends through short live text chats. You choose Dating or Friends, one at a time, and you can switch.
- A new session, called a table, starts every 5 minutes. Joining closes 30 seconds before it starts.
- At a table you have a series of 3-minute chats, about 8 in a session of about 27 minutes. A table has at least 5 people.
- After each chat you have 20 seconds to choose Yes or No in private. Only a mutual Yes makes a match. Nobody ever sees your No.
- If you leave a session early, the choices you already made stay. Chats you didn't finish are skipped.
There are no photos, profiles or swiping. We may change, add or remove features over time. If a change takes away something you paid for, section 12 explains what happens.
5. Your Twin
Everyone on Whoo gets a Twin. Your Twin is an AI version of you. It starts with a 3-minute chat when you sign up. It is AI, not a person, and it is not you.
- On Basic, your Twin stays as you set it up.
- On Whoo Plus, your Twin keeps learning from Twin Talk, your own messages and your own Yes and No choices. It never learns from the other person's messages.
- You can see, edit or delete what your Twin knows at any time, on every plan, at no cost.
Auto-Date (called Auto-Hangout in Friends mode) is part of Whoo Plus. If you turn it on, your Twin can take part in up to 5 three-minute chats a day while you're away. It may say Yes or No for you, and matches can result.
- Your Twin can never buy or use unlocks, spend money, or send the first message after a match.
- You can review every chat it had in Date Recap (Hangout Recap) and decide yourself whether to unlock.
- You are responsible for turning Auto-Date on, and you can turn it off at any time.
Read more on the Your Twin and Whoo's AI page.
6. Meeting someone's Twin
On Whoo Plus, a member's Twin may chat on their behalf. Before your first session, we tell you this in How Whoo works. [Counsel: confirm how each Twin chat is labelled as AI under EU AI Act Art. 50.]
A Twin's words are generated by AI. They may not match exactly what the person would say. Treat a Twin chat as a first impression, not a promise. If you match after a Twin chat, the real person decides whether to unlock and talk.
7. Whoo's AI features
Whoo uses AI to help, not to decide for you. Our AI:
- seats you at tables with people you're likely to click with. Some rules always come first: interest must match both ways, you never sit with someone you blocked, and you won't meet someone you met in the last 7 days;
- opens chats with an icebreaker;
- suggests replies. It never sends them. You pick, edit or ignore them;
- explains why you matched. Basic shows one line; Whoo Plus shows the full reasoning.
The AI never decides a match on its own. A match needs two Yes answers, given by members or, on Auto-Date, by a member's Twin.
Please keep in mind:
- AI output can be wrong, incomplete or odd. Use your own judgement.
- AI is not a person, a counsellor, a doctor, a lawyer or any other professional.
- Don't rely on AI to keep you safe. Read our safety tips and use report and block.
- If you tell Whoo's AI or your Twin that you are in crisis, we will point you to support services. [Counsel: confirm scope under California SB 243 and New York GBL Art. 47.]
8. Translation
You can write in any of Whoo's languages. Messages are translated by AI. You see the message in your language on top and the original underneath, labelled "AI · Translated from" and the language name.
Translations can miss tone, slang or meaning. If something seems off, check the original or ask. You're responsible for what you write. You're not responsible for mistakes the AI makes when translating it.
9. House rules
Before your first session, you agree to Whoo's house rules. In short:
- Be honest about who you are, including your age.
- Be respectful. No harassment, hate, threats or bullying.
- No sexual content without clear consent, and nothing at all involving minors.
- No scams, spam, selling or asking for money.
- Don't pretend to be someone else.
- Don't share other people's private information or screenshots of their chats.
- Nothing illegal, and nothing that promotes violence or self-harm.
The full rules are in our Community Guidelines. You are responsible for your own conduct on Whoo and when you meet people from Whoo.
10. Moderation, reports and appeals
You can report or block anyone from any chat. When you block someone, they are not told.
People review reports, with help from automated tools. If you break these terms or the house rules, we may warn you, limit features, hide content, suspend your account or remove you from Whoo. We will contact the police or other authorities where the law requires, and may do so in other serious cases.
When we act on your account or content, we tell you what we did and why, unless the law or someone's safety stops us. You can appeal within 6 months by replying in the app or emailing safety@meetwhoo.com. A person, not just a machine, will review your appeal. If you're in the EU, you may also use a certified out-of-court dispute body under the Digital Services Act.
11. Matches and unlocks
- A match gives you 24 hours to unlock. Before you unlock, you only see how many messages are waiting.
- Unlocking opens a chat with no time limit.
- Basic includes 3 unlocks a week. Whoo Plus includes 10. Unlocks reset each week and never carry over.
- If you unlock first and the other person never does, your unlock comes back to you.
- Unlocks have no cash value and can't be sold or transferred.
12. Plans, payments, auto-renewal and refunds
Basic is free. It includes sessions without limit, AI reply ideas, the 3-minute Twin chat and 3 unlocks a week.
Whoo Plus is a paid subscription. It adds a Twin that keeps learning, unlimited Twin Talk, Auto-Date up to 5 a day, Date Recap, full match reasons and 10 unlocks a week. Prices are shown in the app before you buy. Whoo Premium is a separate product coming later.
- Billing. You buy Whoo Plus through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Their payment terms also apply.
- Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically for the same length at the then-current price, until you cancel. You can cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.
- Price changes. We will tell you in advance and, where the law requires, ask for your agreement.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. You also keep any refund rights your local law gives you. For example, consumers in the EU and UK may have 14 days, and in Korea and Brazil 7 days, to withdraw. Some US states give 3 business days to cancel a dating service contract. [Counsel to confirm withdrawal rights and waivers for digital content.]
- When Plus ends. Your Twin stays and still helps with matches. Auto-Date turns off. Nothing is deleted.
13. Waitlist and invites
Before launch, you can join the waitlist on our website with your email. Your place in line only affects when you get early access. There is no prize and no payment.
Each person gets an invite code to share. Inviting friends can move you up the line, within limits. The full rules, including what counts as a fair invite, are on the Invite rules page. We may change or end the waitlist or invite programme at any time.
14. Your content and the licence you give us
Your content is what you write or create on Whoo, including chat messages, your Twin chat and Twin Talk. You own your content.
To run Whoo, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, translate, display and process your content. This lets us deliver your messages, translate them, power your Twin and keep Whoo safe. The licence lasts as long as we hold your content, and ends when it is deleted, except where we must keep it by law or for safety.
AI training. We do not use your chats to train AI models unless you turn on "Help improve Whoo's AI". It is off by default. You can turn it off at any time. Whoo Plus Twin learning only shapes your own Twin; it is not used to train models for everyone.
Please only post content you have the right to share. Don't post anything that breaks the law or someone else's rights.
15. Safety and background checks
Whoo does not run criminal background checks on members. We don't routinely check identity. We may ask for ID to confirm age or during a safety review. We cannot promise that anyone is who they say they are, or that they are safe to meet.
Take your time and use common sense. Never send money to someone you met on Whoo. If you meet in person, meet in a public place and tell a friend. Read our safety tips. If you are in danger, contact your local emergency number, such as 911 or 112.
Whoo is not responsible for how members behave, on or off Whoo. We do act on reports, as described in section 10.
16. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app or on our website. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through Apple or Google; cancel that in your store settings.
We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect members. We will tell you why, unless the law or safety reasons stop us. You can appeal as described in section 10.
Some parts of these terms continue after your account ends, including sections 14 to 18.
17. Disclaimers and limits on our liability
We work hard to keep Whoo running well, but we provide it "as is". We don't promise that Whoo will always be available, error-free, or that you will find a match or a friend. AI features, including your Twin and translation, may be inaccurate.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for the conduct of other members. Our total liability to you is limited to [counsel to set cap].
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer in the EU, UK or another place with mandatory consumer protections, you keep those rights.
18. Disputes
If you have a problem, please contact us first at hello@meetwhoo.com. Most issues can be sorted out quickly.
[Counsel to decide on governing law and on arbitration for US members, including an opt-out and a small-claims exception.]
If you live in the EU or the UK, you can bring a claim in the courts where you live, and the consumer laws of your country still protect you.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Whoo changes or the law changes. If a change is important, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Whoo after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
